Swinburne University – Just Culture Training
A successful just culture implementation relies on people at all levels of the organisation to understand the principles and their role in building a just workplace. This requires effective education and training to lay the foundation for putting a just culture framework into practice.
At Swinburne University of Technology, I partnered with the Course Director to completely redesign their aviation safety course, part of the Jetstar Pilot Cadet Program. A major objective was to equip current and future aviation professionals with the knowledge and skills to build safe and just systems of work and instil workplace cultures that supported those values.
My involvement was to design, develop, and deliver the education and training materials on building positive workplace cultures, particularly just culture. I used innovative teaching techniques such as embedded narratives and realistic practical work scenarios to prepare participants for the complexity of real-world practice and build deeper understanding. Upon rollout the redesigned course achieved the highest participant satisfaction ratings across Swinburne University based on its practical industry focused assessments and engaging narrative setting.
